Nike Tackles the NFL

The NFL and Nike released the new line of NFL uniforms, called “Nike Elite 51”. All 32 NFL will be wearing the new uniforms which weigh less than the old NFL uniforms and are better fitting. Nike Brand President Charles Denson said what is most exciting about the new uniforms is “their performance” and that Nike is looking forward to “revolutionizing” the NFL uniform.

If you look at most of the new uniforms, there isn’t much change for 31 teams. The Seattle Seahawks are the only team that completely changed their uniform once the NFL and Nike partnership went into effect. The NFL has strict rules regarding when and what teams can alter or change their uniforms, the Seahawks were eligible for a uniform change and completely revamped the teams look.

Reebok had the previous sponsorship with the NFL which has expired after 10 years. The 10 year deal between Reebok and the NFL was worth $250 million. Although Nike Brand President Charles Denson wouldn’t confirm figures in his press conference during the unveiling of the new uniforms he did confirm the length of the current deal, which is five years. The new deal between Nike and the NFL is rumored to be worth $33 million a year.
