We caught up with Eric of Al Dente Clothing Company, a streetwear and lifestyle brand based out of Miami, to chat about his new fall lookbook that dropped this week! The video lookbook was shot by well-known Miami Filmmaker Fro Rojas and features 4 new designs on a total of 6 t shirts, for their fall release. AL DENTE

Explain the name Al Dente.
AL DENTE is a cooking term meaning cooked to be firm, but not too hard and not over cooked. I’m a big foodie and a wanna-be iron chef so I figured the term can be used in clothing, meaning the same. I’m not really doing too much, I can keep it simple and still come out with a great product, al dente.
What is your inspiration for the Al Dente designs?
Well the logo is inspired from Richard Prince’s skull bunny. It’s two of the most killers images, in my opinion thrown together: a skull and the playboy bunny. I went ahead and sketched my own version and loved it. All the other designs I create take me back to my younger years. I’m constantly inspired by things I see.
How do you set yourself apart from other clothing lines?
I approach my designs with a clean aesthetic. Miami is known for bright colors and huge illustrated prints. I like to do more with less. “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication” – Leonardo da Vinci.
What was your favorite part about the video collab with Fro Rojas for your new lookbook?
Fro is a really good friend of mine, he’s great at what he does. I’ve actually worked with him before on some other projects, it’s always a fun time working with his team. There’s always food and drinks involved, so that’s always fun.
Tell us what’s in store for Al Dente?
I’m already working on my winter collection and have some items ready for the summer. I’m always working on new things. A weekend pop up shop sometime in the winter is being planned but nothing is written in stone.
