Fresh Fest was one of those events that only come around once in a blue moon… the kind of event that makes you look around the room at B.B. Kings and ask yourself where these hip hop heads come from? From the outside looking in, Orlando seems to lack an authentic hip hop community that rides to that not so commercial genre I like to call ‘rap’. Fresh Fest was hip hop, plain and simple. If you missed out the line up was some kind of wonderful, Special Ed, EPMD, Brand Nubian, Chubb Rock, and Das EFX. It was coupled with the weekend of events for DJ Caesar’s Birthday celebration. The selection of music was impeccable throughout the night, most notably Chubb Rock’s set when his DJ spun a variety of classic old school hip hop, dub, reggae, R&B and soul records. Yes all of those amazing genres and the crowd sang along and danced to every word. All I can say is when is Fresh Fest 2011?! Shouts to The Firm; Alex, Caesar and Jae!
