Who said Southern hip hop is wack? Not when Big K.R.I.T. is in the game. Known as the prince of the underground this Mississippi native is bringing back that southern hip hop vibe you felt while listening to Outkast, Bubba Sparxxx or Goodie Mob.
Friday August 10th the Live From The Underground Tour featuring Big K.R.I.T. and Casey Veggies took place at The Beacham in Downtown Orlando. After telling Orlando about the show months ago and hooking winners up via the Climax Contest it was exciting to see how Orlando would respond to K.R.I.T. coming into town. The second I walked into The Beacham on Friday night I felt the admiration and respect throughout the whole venue for K.R.I.T’s undeniable craft.
He performed older and newer tracks including What You Mean, Glass House, Sky Club, and Home Team, where he brought out Orlando native Wes Fif to complete the guest appearance. When Temptation came on, K.R.I.T. introduced what I call the country version of a fist pump and had the whole crowd jamming right alongside him. Country Sh*t and I Got This ended the show as he jumped into the crowd to thank them and vibe out during his last few bars.
Overall the show left me with a sense of gratitude when I left… grateful that quality hip hop acts like K.R.I.T. are still killing performances, attracting tour offers and making their stamp in what sometimes feels like a watered down version of what hip hop used to be. K.R.I.T is on his way to becoming king very soon and Culture Climax supports him every step of the way.
Thanks to The Beacham for the tickets for our Big K.R.I.T. Climax Contest.
