The second edition of the Climax Life is dedicated to the DJs! Music is an important segment of CultureClimax.com so we had to pay homage to all the DJ’s rockin the clubs and putting Orlando on the map! We met up with them at various locations around the city, took some pics and got a glimpse of the day in the life of an Orlando DJ!

DJ Nasty
Scene: Rock n Roll Heaven – Orlando, FL
DJ Nasty is someone who has become synonymous with Orlando. Born in Cuba and raised here, he has directly contributed to the hip-hop scene that has emerged out of Orlando and made it to the mainstream. His success with Nasty Beatmakers, We The Best Management and ties with DJ Khaled & The Runners have opened the door for Orlando producers and lured in some of hip hops biggest names to our city. We took it back to the beginning of his DJ career with a photoshoot at Rock n Roll Heaven…everyone there knows his name and it was only right to pay homage to the place that helped start his career.
Fast forward til now and DJ Nasty fully immersed his business, between We The Best Management, Nasty Beatmakers, 102 JAMZ, DJing events and being with his family he’s on the go more often than not. You can find him in the clubs

DJ Pointblanc
Scene: Downtown Orlando – Plaza Theater
Calm, cool, collected. This is what comes to mind when you think of Pointblanc as a person, but as a DJ he let’s it all out. It’s like night and day (his personality versus his DJ style) one so reserved and respectful and the other swift and vivacious. His humble personality, respect for different cultures and love of music attract a diverse, mature and vibrant crowd at all of his nights. He’s dropping a mixtape VERY soon and has incorporated some of Orlando’s artists with the project which we will definitely be posting when complete.

Chino is one of those DJs that’s experienced so much and had an actual career before doing what he loves best, DJing. Hustler is an understatement. He has nights poppin all over the city and always has something new up his sleeve. His DJ style is very club-friendly, with a lot of hip hop, top 40, and he’s a big reggae head too! Chino’s photoshoot was downtown on Church Street at Club 23 because that’s where you can find him 99% of the time he’s DJing. You can also check him out on 102 JAMZ mixing live over the weekend throughout the week.

DJ M-Squared
Scene: Real Feel Studios
M-Squared has wowed us all. It’s amazing where 2 tables and a mixer has taken him. Aside from having a crazy track record of gigs… like DJing for Tommy Hilfiger parties in Miami this man has REALLY put Orlando on the map. He recently has been crowned Red Bull Thr3style Champion in the U.S. and will be going to Paris in December to compete with DJs around the world for the international crown… Amazing! But with all that being said his DJ style is smooth, fun and sexy. M-Squared incorporates a lot of soul, oldies and old skool in his sets and infuses them with modern day tunes. We met up with him and DJ Lyvwyr (his good friend) at Real Feel Studios in Casselberry for the shoot, extremely appropriate because they both play instruments.
You can find M-Squared on WPRK every Thursday night at 11pm alongside DJ Lyvwyr. And he’s spinning at the grand opening of Club Déjà vu downtown this Friday!

“The only thing I love more than Dj-ing, Is who I do it for… YOU!” – a quote from his facebook page. This completely describes Lyvwyr’s DJ style and character. He’s always out supporting other people and DJs whenever he’s not on the grind himself. Lyvwyr is extremely dedicated to his craft and really does it for the love of music. If I could describe his DJ style, which is hard to because he’s extremely versatile I think of Outkast’s hook “Old skool players to new skool fools”. He really appeals to it all and could go from DJing a wedding to rockin a old skool hip hop not without a problem.

On the come up! Young Smitchell is definitely on the come up, which also happens to be the name of one of his many endeavors as a DJ. Recently named the 102 JAMZ street squad official DJ, Young Smitchell has made a name for himself in the community and on college campuses in Central Florida. He has mastered his craft with those crowds and does it with poise, while still having fun. Videos, graphics, mixtapes, DJing, organizing events and running Jewel 7 Entertainment is just a snippet of a day in his life… his work ethic and drive are helping him pave the way as Orlando’s future!

A-Rock is one of those DJ’s that has the gift of ‘seeing sounds’. Music is his 24/7 – 365 grind and passion. He’s a risk taker and that has boosted his career to some amazing heights. He’s been the Official Dew Tour DJ, spun for NBA athletes and crowds of thousands. His resume is bigger than Orlando, but when he’s here you can find A-Rock all over the city… perfecting his craft, mingling and supporting his peers.

Scene: Rincon’s Crib
Rincon is the DJ that will make you laugh and dance at the same time. He’s tied to some of the best nights in Orlando yet isn’t afraid to step away and take chances with different places in Central Florida. He was tied with DJ M-Squared as the Orlando Redbull Thre3style Champ. Rincon was also the official Scion DJ and traveled with them to various cities. His list of accomplishments is quite impressive but he’s still a cool down to earth dude with a mean record collection (hence the pic).

Oh the love of dubstep. DJ Y-Not has mastered it. Old skool really doesn’t do justice to his DJ style because he does it all. During the photo shoot at Rock n Roll Heaven he went right to the soul section and started picking records out, clearly letting me know soul and funk have been heavy in his rotation. Y-Not’s the kind of DJ you can just chill, lounge and vibe too… he’s not heavy in the club, mainstream scene but that’s what makes him unique. Y-Not has taken part of bringing a few DJ legends to Orlando like DJ Maseo and Kenny Dope so far and he’s starting a new night called ‘The Heist’ come 2011 so be on the lookout!

The reggae/dancehall king! Reconn is one of the best reggae DJ’s in Orlando, hands down. Whether or not you’re aware, Orlando has a HUGE population of people from the islands and Reconn caters to them like none other. He’s recently re-launched his online reggae/dancehall online radio website – CaribMixRadio.com… a venture that opens many doors for himself and the DJs in Orlando to be exposed to a worldwide audience and DJs around the world. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Reconn is one of those DJs that contributing to Orlando’s name and reputation with the reggae audience. DJ D-Strong is blowing up! Over the past year it seems like no one can keep up with him… he’s now an official DJ on 106&Park and an official DJ of the Orlando Magic. He launched Strong Music Group and since then things have taken off. We caught up with D-Strong at the 102 JAMZ Studio before he went on air during his new mixshow ‘The 10 O’Clock Takeover’. He was listening to beats… actually some really dope beats… it’s evident how connected he is with the streets while at the same time rubbing shoulders with some big names in the music industry.
