Climax Eats: Orlando’s Top Casual Meals

Published on January 2nd, 2013

In addition to Climaxing on the site, food is one of those elements of life that seriously adds to our Climax. We compiled a list of some of the best places to eat in Orlando for just around $10 or less. Enjoy and tell them Culture Climax sent ya!

Black Bean Deli – lunch/dinner

One of Orlando’s Latin gems, Black Bean Deli is always in high demand. Currently located in Winter Park, their new and upgraded second location will be right on Colonial near Mills. They have a new location opening on Colonial very soon! The people who work there are always friendly and I love their empanadas and desserts.

Climax Pick: Cuban Sandwich Special with a Mexican coke

Handy Pantry – lunch

You might drive right past this place and never realize it’s more than just a neighborhood bodega in the middle of Lake Eola Heights. The Handy Pantry is a little convenient store that has an amazing selection of yummy sandwiches that are made fresh daily.  All sandwiches come with a pickle, chips and cookie, and I always as for the sandwich to be made on a croissant!

Climax Pick: Zesty Eola

Caribbean Sunshine Bakery – lunch/dinner

Caribbean Sunshine Bakery is hands down one of the best Jamaican food spots in Central Florida. Everything they have is authentic and flavorful. With some reggae tunes playing in the background and locals speaking patois you feel like you’re in the islands.  They load up those dinner platters with dumplings, salad, rice and tons of chicken. A little tip… ask for extra jerk sauce.

Climax Pick: Spicy beef patties and jerk chicken platter

Christos – breakfast/lunch

This neighborhood diner is always packed and always consistently good! Best place for weekend breakfast and you can sit outside and enjoy the lovely neighborhood of College Park. They have new specials every day so I always try to switch it up and try something different.

Climax Pick: The Western omelet with the home fries

Melissa’s Chicken & Waffles – Food Truck

One of the best combinations to ever hit our palettes, chicken and waffles, is good at all times of the day and night. Melissa’s Chicken and Waffles is one of the best food trucks riding around Orlando! You can find them at all the food truck meet ups around Orlando and parked every Sunday at The Falcon Bar for brunch and mimosas! Follow them on Twitter to find out where they parked: @melissaswaffles.

Climax Pick: The original with syrup

Whitewood Grill – lunch/dinner

Mediterranean food in the heart of Downtown Orlando, Whitewood is one of the best places to get a dose of Greek cuisine. They are open late on weekends and the perfect alternative for the fourth meal or a meal before you hit the town. The menu is packed with wraps, flatbreads, amazing platters and gyros.

Climax Pick: Chicken Kabob with Greek salad and fries (ask for feta cheese on the fries!)

What are some of your favorite spots to eat in Orlando?
